Health & Safety Protocols
As always, your health and safety are my top priority. All Covid protocols are adhered to. We will be posting updates as the situation evolves, under the direction of our governing body, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
COVID-19 Update:
The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) has updated its guidelines for Massage Therapists in 5 areas:
1. Masking:
As of June 13, 2022, except for long-term care and retirement homes, mandatory masking has ended. Some organizations, such as hospitals, have already enacted their own masking policies. Masking preferences can be communicated ahead of your appointment so we can both prepare accordingly. Risk assessment, careful communication, tolerance and professional judgement will continue to guide RMTs’ decisions on treatment and use of personal protective equipment.
If you are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19, we may discuss your options, such as scheduling your treatment at the beginning or end of the day, based on availability.
2. Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC):
RMTs follow the requirements in CMTO’s Practice Standard- Infection Prevention and Control, Practice Standard- Safety and Risk Management and Public Health Ontario’s IPAC guidance (This can be found on the CMTO's website).
3. Client Screening:
RMTs cannot provide treatment to anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 until those symptoms have subsided or to anyone who is supposed to be self-isolating at the time of their scheduled appointment. RMTs can continue to use passive screening such as signage.
4. Self Screening:
RMTs must monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms and not practise if they are feeling ill.
5. Contact Tracing:
Maintaining a roster of all visitors is no longer required. That being said, I already keep records of all appointments anyways in order to issue insurance invoices and add notes after each treatment.
